Livira walked gracefully up the set of tall, spiraling stone stairs up to a green hill overlooking much of the forests and meadows. The green foliage covered much of the ground as well as some stone ruins that stood triumphant atop the hill. The sun was just setting, so a warm and inviting orange glow filled the sky and fell upon Livira's soft ivory face. She walked up to a broken wall and sat upon it and gazed into the horizon. It had been nearly 4 years since she had last seen Elrohir. His duties as king of Eriamar had called him there and he had much to do in his realm. She looked into the sunset and thought of his face, his calm voice. Livira sat with eyes fixed into the sky as she fiddled mindlessly with a small necklace that he had given to her years ago in Eriamar.
She sighed and thought to herself, "I do wonder what he is doing now. I sense he is doing well and is in his right place, but I can't help but think about him." A soft breeze picked up and blew her hair up off her back. She closed her eyes and let the wind tickle her skin and blow through her hair, thinking again, "I wonder if he remembers me. It has been so long, and I haven't heard from him at all..." As she sat and pondered, remembering what life had been like years ago, when the world was full of life and her kingdom was in bloom with many visitors and inhabitants. Now things had begun to go almost grey. Things had been rather plain over the past few years and an ironically depressing calm had swept over the forests. Perhaps one day again it would be brought to life.
A rustle in the leafy bush came. Livira broke her gaze with the endless sky and turned, seeing someone climb up the stairs behind her. "Suilad," she greeted them, waiting to see them step around the tree and reveal themselves.

A hooded figure walked up the steps, his stride was strong, but there was havyness as well, as though the hardships of his travels were catching up on him.
He looked at Livira, his face cast in shadow.
"My Lady" he said. "It has been too long" he drew back his hood and smiled. It was Elrohir. His face was not as fair as it had once been, it was darker and more care-worn.
However, as Elrohir looked upon Livira, a smile broke across his face, and with it lines were smoothed from his complexion, never to return.
He undid the golden horse brooch clasped around his chest, and his cloak fell to the ground. He was dressed simply, with riding pants of the deepest blue, and a loose shirt of a colour near indescribable, like purple and burgundy, laced with gold thread around the cuffs.
He walked over to Livira, looking at her face. She didnt appear to have changed at all, however her face seemed more tired than before, as though longing had been present for far too long.
Looking up at him, she smiled. Elrohir took her hand and stood on one knee. "Livira" he said. "Forgive me. I have been gone for too long."

She saw the shadowy figure approaching, but she did not fear. She did not call the guards either. Somehow she could sense it was no threat, so she let it come near. In the wind the cloak billowed as he walked closer, and she watched, wanting to find out who it was. As he threw back his hood, a smile spread across her face as well, recognizing him immediately. Her sapphire eyes glistened in the sunlight as he bent down on one purple clothes knee and plead for forgiveness, taking her hand.
"Lord Elrohir," she said, a name playfully muttered years ago, "Come now, have you any reason to believe that you are in need of forgiving, humbling yourself before me? I sure hope you are not that foolish." She let go of his hand and moved hers to his worn face, resting her palm on his cheek. "Don't think I have forgotten this face, even if it has seen weather and time," she said brightly, extending her left hand to him to help him stand up.
As he came onto his feet, she quickly hugged him. "It is good to see you again, my lord. Come, we'll go to the hall and dine and I would be pleasured to hear of all that you have been doing lately. I would love to hear about Eriamar and your people." She clasped her hands in front of her, waiting and hoping that he would accept her small proposal.

Elrohir followed Livira, smiling.
He offered her his arm, which she took, and they walked down the stone steps to the path towards the castle. Elrohir was overjoyed Livira seemed to have missed him as much as he had missed her, the years spent away from her side seemed like a life age.
They followed the path down, as it wound around the hill they had previously stodd upon. To their left a white stallion ran freely in a field. It was Elrohir's horse, and it galloped into the west in search of company.
"So, has much changed in my absense?" Elrohir inquired. He smiled, but his face showed a slight strain, as though he did not wish to talk about what had happened during his own time away.
Walking towards the castle the continued speaking, the sun setting behind them.

Livira could sense hesitation in him, so she did not pursue the topic of his travels any further. Instead, she answered his question.
"Unfortunately, there has not been much change for the better. Things have gotten dull, life here has taken a much slower course. Since the invasion in the north, there have been very few travellers to come by here, except for the ones that reside here often. During the lapse in the forests' excitement I had found time to get much done that I have long planned to accomplish. Elwood Lover and I were able to beautify the main castle garden," She explained, "I was also able to finish dozens of pieces of artwork for the main corridor and my personal rooms, of which I am quite pleased. Besides the small, uneventful things, not much change has come to pass."
She finished explaining right as they came to the stairs to the castle. They walked up the stairs and went through the large, open wooden doors with cast iron decorations and found themselves entering the private dining hall. Inside was a long cherry wood table with several chairs neatly arranged around it. There were bowls of exotic fruits and nuts set out on the table and a handmaiden was just lighting some tall, spiraling candles. Livira walked over to the side of the table and Elrohir pulled out her chair. She sat down and motioned for him to sit across from her on the other side of the table.
She smiled as she picked a bunch of golden grapes and set them down on her empty silver plate. "It feels nice to sit on this side for once. I am so used to sitting at the head of the table. This feels just much more at home, I think." She ate a grape and just then another handmaiden came in with some goblets and a very bright silver pitcher, another with a plate of freshly cooked meats and vegetables.
"I sure hope you're hungry, Elrohir, because there is a lot to eat here," Livira said merrily.
